New JewelleryNecklace of Early Islamic Glass Beads Mount in 18k Gold
Necklace made by islamic glass beads, characteristically decorated with eyes, wavy lines, feathering, folded patterns, mosaics, and combinations of these techniques; they were produced from the 8th to the 14th century. They were widely circulated in the ancient Islamic world where some have been preserved in use until recent times, while other have been excavated in North Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia.
This bead belongs to the group called “folded beads” or “mirror beads”, for the technique of realization. The folded beads were first made to imitate banded stone.
The beads are well preseved, presenting surface wearing appropriate to the age.
The mount is modern, our production.
