Murano “Portraits” Glass Beads, last quarter of 19th century

Interesting and extremely rare Murano glass bead “Portraits”, realized in the second half of 19th century, in the wake of the most famous murrine by G.B. and Giacomo Franchini.

It was found in a string of mixed venetian trade beads bought in Mali. The subjects are known as “Arabi” (arabian people), because of the headgear. Similar murrine are in Murano Museum of Glass, and are in Augusto Panini new book, “Il Mondo in una Perla”, page 245, pics. 275a and 274a.
