Bactrian Banded Agate Bead from China-Tibet
Exceptional natural banded agate bead from the pre-islamic north eastern Bactria (HIMALAIAN REGIONS AND BEYOND).
The very strong silica oxydation developed only on one side, could suggest the bead lay for centuries buried in earth with a very acid ph.
The bead presents a nick on the rim of one hole.
Perfectly preserved, it could be possible to date it to the first times to the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, when Bactria were known in China as Da Xia (大夏) , that means “Barbarian empire”.
