Bactrian Banded Agate Bead from China-Tibet
Exceptional natural banded agate bead from the pre-islamic north eastern Bactria (HIMALAIAN REGIONS AND BEYOND).
This bead presents “blood spots,” which are tiny red lines in the white areas, indicative of iron content. This is highly desirable, but relatively rare.
Very beautiful patina.
The bead presents a nick on the rim of one hole.
Perfectly preserved, it could be possible to date it to the first times to the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, when Bactria were known in China as Da Xia (大夏) , that means “Barbarian empire”.
