Large Micro Mosaic Depicting Carlo Dolci’s painting of the Virgin.
This is a very large and exquisite micromosaic depicting the Virgin, known as “Madonna del Dito,” named for the thumb that holds her dress closed. It was created in the mid-19th century, based on a 17th-century painting by Carlo Dolci (1616-1686).
