Antique ObjectsPerfume bottle, Franchini and Bigaglia (?), End 19th c. Murano Venezia
Beautiful perfume bottle, in opaque glass, decorated with the “piumato” pattern, made using a very nice “avventurina” glass. Solid brass stopper. Last decade of 19th century, Murano – Venezia.
It is ascribed to Giacomo Franchini, and produced by Pietro Bigaglia by some collectors, but we have a different opinion. Considering the shape of the bottle and the colours, and that these items were very expensive also at their time, we suppose this kind of bottles was made as a second line production, by unknown imitators. The result is not exceptional, as the Franchini’, but of more than decent quality. We could also go to suppose they were made under the supervision of Bigaglia, when, after 1875, G. Franchini more or less stopped the production.
