Bactrian Culture Natural Striped Agate Bead

An ancient lenticular natural striped agate, beautiful colour, coming from Bactrian area.

Bactria was in north central Asia, in the zone of modern Northern Afghanistan (Balk province). Bactria was well known also in China, since the 2nd century BCE: actually there is an ideogram to define it: Da Xia.

The bead is not heat treated, it is semi-translucent with natural white waves (chalcedony inclusions). Well preserved, presents some dig marks.
